Martin Gaffney is an award winning artist working in graphic design, mixed media art, photography and music. Based in Killeshandra County Cavan, he nurtures a natural curiosity and a deep personal interest to explore, whether working on commissions or in his own creative journeys.
Having received his initial art and design training in Sligo, Gaffney moved to Dublin, where he studied Visual communications and in 1983 co-founded Designworks. In 2025 he returned to his native Killeshandra to establish a studio for the development of his arts practices.
Martin is also a renowned traditional Irish Musician playing concert flute, whistles, piano and piano accordion. He teaches, performs, records and adjudicates. He is currently performing and making recordings of a traditional Irish, ambient and blues musics.
